Government and industry creating strong SMEs
The Australian Manufacturing Capability Network (AMCN) is one of four Industry Partner Organisations (IPOs) to the Industry Growth Program.
The Industry Growth Program provides expert advice on commercialisation and early-stage business growth to startups and high-growth small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). This advice is provided by Industry Growth Program advisors.
As an IPO, the AMCN will complement this advice, offering specialised advisory services that draw on its sectoral expertise.
INDUSTRY GROWTH PROGRAM
Helping companies commercialise
The Industry Growth Program supports innovative SMEs undertaking commercialisation or growth projects that will build Australian capabilities in priority areas for the National Reconstruction Fund:
- renewables and low emissions technologies
- medical science
- transport
- value-add in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors
- value-add in resources
- defence capability
- enabling capabilities.
It aims to help businesses:
- commercialise their ideas into new products, processes and services, and grow their operations
- improve their ability to engage in national and international markets
- better position themselves to seek future investment and scaling opportunities, including through the NRF.
It complements the NRF’s mission to drive investment in projects that develop Australia’s industry and manufacturing capability. This will help to transform Australia’s economy.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
Advice and funding support
The program has three core elements:
- Industry Growth Program advisers around Australia provide tailored advice to support commercialisation and growth projects.
- Businesses who receive this advice may be able to apply for matched grant funding opportunities.
- Industry Partner Organisations provide specialist sectorial expertise, advice and services to participating businesses (upcoming).
Grants
Grants of up to $5 million are now available. These grants will provide targeted support for SMEs across the NRF’s seven priority areas to overcome the challenges associated with growing and scaling up through two grant streams:
- Early-Stage Commercialisation grants from $50,000 to $250,000 to help establish the commercial viability of an innovative product, process, or service.
- Commercialisation and Growth grants from $100,000 to $5 million to help push ideas from prototyping through to market readiness stages. Grants will help develop strategies for entry to market and scaling up into national and international markets.
